We’ve been selling real estate in Edmond, Oklahoma since 1982. Over the past ten years, homes within the Deer Creek Elementary School boundaries have been some of the most sought after.
As always, smart parents are eager to get the best education possible for their children, and Deer Creek Elementary has an outstanding reputation, matched only by its academic record (an “A” rating and 3.38 GPA).

Map of Deer Creek Elementary School Boundaries:
It’s always a pleasure for me to introduce the Deer Creek neighborhood to Edmond house hunters. A surprising number of them have never heard of it, those that have heard of it, have usually never been there.
To those folks, I recommend they start with a drive through. Here’s a video of one that I took, so you don’t have to (the route taken is marked in blue on the map above: west on 164th, south on MacArthur).
Deer Creek Highlights:

Deer Creek Elementary School
If you have kids at Deer Creek Elementary, then the school will inevitably become a staple of your social life; with sporting, social, academic and community events a-plenty.
Lone Oak Park Neighborhood, Deer Creek
This is the closest neighborhood to Deer Creek Elementary, nestled around and behind it, and it’s fairly typical of the new build suburban style. It’s on 164th Street and Lone Oak Drive. Houses start in the low $200,000 for around 2,000 sq ft and range up to $350,000.
This Lone Oak Park home with a three car garage at the entrance to the Lone Oak Park neighborhood is right in the low end of that price range.
Occasionally a prospective buyer will ask about older homes in the Deer Creek Elementary School catchment area. Unfortunately they are few and far between. Most of the land has been bought by developers to be worked into neighborhoods at this stage. Much of the surrounding area looks either rural, or like this.
Occasionally the older homes do come up for sale. You’re usually looking at rural properties on sizable pieces of land however, like this one on the corner of 150th and MacArthur.
Buying outside of the Deer Creek Elementary School District
Much of the development that is going on in the Deer Creek area is happening in the other elementary school districts in the Deer Creek catchment area. Especially Spring Creek and Grove Valley (the closest to Oklahoma City and Edmond respectively).
The schools serving these communities are also very good. An example of just such a new neighborhood is Deer Creek Park by Westpointe Homes. It’s on the west side of MacArthur, just south of 164th, and so in the Spring Creek Elementary School district.
Home Creations maintain a similar and nearby neighborhood of new builds called Sonador and Montague at 164th Street and Montague. Again this is in the Spring Creek Elementary, Deer Creek Middle and Deer Creek High School districts.
Churches in Deer Creek
The closest church to the Deer Creek Elementary School district is the Church of the Servant United Methodist Church, just over the road from Gaillardia. It’s a large church with a well established congregation and features a good mix of contemporary and traditional worship.
Also nearby, but not in Deer Creek, is Crossings Community Church.
Oklahoma City’s most prestigious neighborhood
Part of what makes Deer Creek such a desirable place to live is the presence of the fabulous Gaillardia homes, grounds, country club and golf course. This remarkable gated community is home to many of the wealthiest men and women in the Oklahoma City metro.
One of the Nation’s Premier Cancer Treatment Centers
Another feature of the Deer Creek neighborhood is its close proximity to the John Kilpatrick Turnpike and what is known as the ‘Memorial Corridor’. This is one of the fastest growing retail corridor in OKC, and provides plenty of options for dining, but also some world-class employers.
Martin Nature Reserve and Center
Martin Park Nature Center is one of Oklahoma City’s hidden gems, and it’s less than a minute from Deer Creek. A tranquil little park with miles of winding, shaded trails that cross back and forth over creeks and ponds.
There’s a play area, a nature center with live animals, a beehive, puppets and crafts, as well as telescopes and nature observation points throughout the park.
Deer Creek’s local restaurants and coffee
I don’t know about you, but all this driving has given me a powerful thirst. You’ll be pleased to know that just over the turnpike Deer Creek has its very own Starbucks Coffee shop, as well as local restaurant chains Earl’s Rib and Charleston’s.
